"Signatures, Forms, and Other Documentation Issues –To Improve Your Cash Flow"

Medicare has recently made major changes to the signature requirements.  In a recent case, the City of Chicago agreed to settle with Medicare for millions of dollars, with one of the issues being alleged failure of the ambulance crews to obtain patient signatures.  There are other forms, like the Physician Certification for non-emergency ambulance transports that are also required.  And Medicare has updated its form to notify patients if a claim may not be covered by Medicare.  Proper use of these forms and other documentation to support the medical necessity of an ambulance claim are all critically important to maximize your cash flow – in a legal and compliant manner.  This webinar will give you the information to do just that!

"Dispatch Protocols:  The Missing Link for Effective Reimbursement and Compliance"

Whether you are dispatched by an outside agency or do your own dispatch, the information you capture – and document – can make or break the billing process.   Dispatch protocols are a critical element in Medicare billing to allow you to bill at the ALS level without specific ALS interventions.   The days of billing “all ALS” simply because all the ambulances are staffed by ALS personnel are long gone.  You need to have clear dispatch protocols in place with “response determinants” that indicate when the response of an ALS crew is required.   This session will explore the strategies for getting and documenting valuable patient information at the dispatch or call intake phase of your operations, which is the front door to billing and compliance.

Medicare and Reimbursement Update:

What You Need to Know to Legally Maximize Your Reimbursement

This seminar, led by national EMS attorney Steve Wirth, will walk you through the “potpourri” of Medicare changes that have occurred over the past year, as well as changes that are coming down the pike --- like enforcement of the new “Red Flag Rules” to prevent identity theft.  In this session, we’ll explore the hottest and most timely reimbursement issues in detail, to help ensure that you have an effective, working knowledge of the latest reimbursement issues that impact your bottom line.  The focus will be on what you “need to know” to improve your documentation, improve compliance, streamline the billing process, and strengthen your organization’s vital cash flow.  We’ll cover specific points on how you can work more effectively with your ambulance billing company to help bring back the maximum level of reimbursement you are legally entitled to receive.
